Overview

The 2024 Ford Mustang Mach-E is an electric SUV that shares its name with the classic Mustang car, but it’s more about modern electric power than old-school muscle car vibes. This family-friendly SUV is fast, strong, looks good, and rides smoothly. It also has lots of cool features. There are different versions available:

  • the budget-friendly Select model
  • the Premium model with lots of extras
  • the GT models are all about speed and power

Even though it’s not the newest on the block like the Hyundai Ioniq 5, the Mach-E still impresses with a nice interior full of the latest Ford technology. It’s even been chosen as one of the top picks for 2024 by editors. Most versions can travel over 250 miles before needing to recharge. We tested the GT Performance version, and it soared from 0 to 60 mph in exclusively 3.7 seconds on our test track. That’s almost as fast as the super speedy Mustang Shelby GT500.

What’s New for the 2024 Ford Mustang Mach-E?

What's New for the 2024 Ford Mustang Mach-E

The big news for 2024 is the introduction of the Mustang Mach-E Rally trim, which is designed for some off-road fun.

It features a redesigned front end with fog lights and a red tow hook, a new spoiler on the tailgate, and tires that are a bit tougher for off-road conditions.

Additionally, there’s a new Bronze Appearance package available. This option changes the Mach-E’s usual front decoration to one with bronze highlights and includes beautiful bronze wheels.

This special package is only available for the GT model, which is all about high performance, and you can choose it with three exterior colors: Shadow Black, Star White Metallic Tri-Coast, and Eruption Green. Moreover, by spring 2024, Mach-E drivers should be able to charge their vehicles at Tesla’s Supercharger stations, expanding charging options.

Pricing and Best Choice

The 2024 Ford Mustang Mach-E’s price starts at $45,390 and can go up to $65,390, based on the model and extra features you choose.

  • Select: $45,390
  • Premium: $48,890
  • GT: $60,890
  • GT Performance: $61,885
  • GT Bronze: $62,885
  • Rally: $65,390

We recommend picking the Premium version of the Mach-E. It presents a lot of nice features that you don’t get with the cheaper Select version. Ford claims that with the biggest battery option and using just the rear wheels for driving, the Premium can go up to 310 miles before needing to recharge. However, we suggest choosing the version with all-wheel drive. It’s expected to go a bit less far on a single charge, about 290 miles, but it’s worth it for the extra control and power.

Electric Motor, Power, and How It Moves

Electric Motor, Power, and How It Moves

Battery Options and Power

The Mustang Mach-E offers two types of batteries: a standard one with 70.0 kWh and a bigger one with 91.0 kWh. These batteries power the electric motor. If you choose the rear-wheel drive (RWD) option, your Mach-E will have one motor.

If you go for the all-wheel drive (AWD), it will have motors on both the front and back, giving power to all four wheels. The top models, GT and GT Performance, only come with AWD and have the most power—480 and up to 634 pound-feet of torque. We tested the GT Performance model, and it soared from 0 to 60 mph in simply 3.7 seconds.

Different Levels of Power

The models with less power and only rear-wheel drive have either 266 or 290 horsepower and 317 pound-feet of torque. The AWD versions of the Select and Premium models have more power, ranging from 266 to 346 horsepower, with torque between 427 and 428 pound-feet. When we last tried out the Mach-E, which had the bigger battery and AWD, we found it was quicker and more fun to drive than many other cars like it.

Driving Experience

No matter how much power you choose, the Mach-E offers great features, runs quietly, and provides a smooth ride that we think buyers will really like.

Driving Distance, Charging, and Battery

New Battery Technology and Range

In 2023, Ford introduced a new type of battery for the Mustang Mach-E models that come with the standard battery size. The distance these cars can travel on a full charge ranges from 224 to 312 miles, depending on the battery size and how many motors the car has. While these distances can’t match the longest-range Tesla cars, they are competitive with other electric SUVs from big brands.

Every Mach-E is capable of fast charging. Using the charging cable that reaches the car, you can add up to 30 leagues of field overnight with a regular home outlet. If you have a stronger 240-volt outlet, you can charge the battery to 80% overnight. Ford also offers a more powerful charging station for homes, which a professional needs to install. This station can charge the Mach-E’s battery even faster, adding 28 miles of range for each hour it’s plugged in.

Efficiency on the Road

MPG and Efficiency Ratings

The government agency that looks after environmental matters, the EPA, says the base model of the Mustang Mach-E with rear-wheel drive can get up to 110 miles per gallon of gasoline-equivalent in the city and 96 miles per gallon of gasoline-equivalent on the highway.

The GT Performance model, which has the most power, uses more energy and reaches 90 miles per gallon of gasoline equivalent in the city and 77 MPGe on the highway. We have yet to test the 2024 Mach-E on our highway test route, so we can’t say exactly how far it goes in real-world conditions. For more details on Mach-E’s efficiency, you can check the EPA’s website.

Inside the Mustang Mach-E: Space and Features

Inside the Mustang Mach-E Space and Features

Space for Everyone and Everything

The battery of the Mustang Mach-E is placed low, right between the bottom of the car and the floor inside, like a skateboard. This design makes the inside very roomy for both people and their things. The dashboard looks sleek and has a big digital display for the driver and a very large screen that stands up for controlling the car’s features. There’s also a special spot under the armrest where you can put things like a purse.

Keeping Things Organized

In the back of the car, there’s a space where you can put your groceries or other items that offer 29 cubic feet of room. If you need more space, you can fold down the back seats and have up to 60 cubic feet for larger items.

Comfort and Convenience

The Mach-E comes with lots of nice touches to make driving and riding in the car more enjoyable. You can change the color of the lights inside, warm up the front seats and the steering wheel, charge your phone without plugging it in, let in light and air with a big sunroof, and even use the front trunk as a cooler because it’s waterproof and easy to clean out.

Entertainment and Staying Connected

Smart Infotainment System

Ford’s newest infotainment system in the Mustang Mach-E learns from you to make your driving experience better. It can remember settings for up to three people plus a guest. This system is shown on a big 15.5-inch screen that stands up, making it easy to touch and use all its features. Ford plans to send out updates through the internet to keep adding new things and improving the system. You can enjoy Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, the internet on the go, and, in some models, an amazing sound system by Bang & Olufsen.

Keeping Safe on the Road

Helping You Drive Safely

The Mustang Mach-E comes with much technology to help you drive safely, including Ford’s BlueCruise, which lets you drive without using your hands under certain conditions. Important safety features are:

  • Emergency stopping automatically if there’s a risk of hitting something
  • Monitoring for cars in your blind spot and alerting you if someone is behind you as you reverse
  • Optional cruise control that works by itself, even without hands on the wheel

What Ford Promises to Take Care Of

Warranty Information

Ford offers a decent warranty for the Mustang Mach-E, including a special warranty for the electric parts of the car. While the warranty for most parts of the car is pretty standard, Ford makes sure the electric components are covered for a longer time. However, they don’t offer free maintenance checks.

  • The basic warranty lasts for three years or 36,000 miles, whichever comes first.
  • The warranty for the engine and other major moving parts lasts for five years or 60,000 miles.
  • Electric parts of the car are covered for eight years or 100,000 miles.
  • There needs to be a plan for free regular maintenance checks.
