In 2023, Kia made the Sportage bigger to carry more people. It looks modern, has the newest tech and a particular version can go off-road better than before. Kia also added hybrid versions that are powerful and save on fuel. Plus, Kia’s warranty is outstanding, and the prices are fair. On paper, this Sportage should be one of the best.
But we wish it had more power in 2024, which it doesn’t. The standard engine is okay and could be more fuel-efficient. However, the Hybrid version is more robust, which helps when you need to speed up or merge onto highways, and it’s better for saving fuel.
You might also like other small SUVs like the Honda CR-V or Mazda CX-50. The CR-V is as spacious as the Sportage, but the CX-50 is more fun to drive, though it doesn’t hold as much. Looking at what you get for your money, the EX model, priced at $30,565, is the best deal. It comes with extra nice things like a bigger 12.3-inch screen for the dashboard’s center, a place to charge your phone without wires, and seats in the front that can warm up.
2024 Kia Sportage Performance
When driving the Sportage every day, it doesn’t stand out much. We tried the X-Pro model, which is better for light off-roading because of its special tires. This makes it lossless sharp on regular roads, but the real problem is that its slowness needs to be faster. It takes longer than 9.5 seconds to get up to 60 mph, which is slower than many others. If you don’t choose the Hybrid Sportage, this is the only engine you get, and the Hybrid is worth a look.
The engine struggles in many driving situations. The car often has to shift gears to use the power well, and you must think ahead if you want to pass another vehicle. But steering is easy and precise, and the brakes work well. If it had a different engine, driving it would be much nicer.

The Sportage is excellent if you want to be comfortable. The seats are supportive and relaxing, even though they don’t move in many ways. The material on the seats is simple but challenging, and the fancier models have seats that can warm up or cool down. The back seats can lean back a lot, which people sitting there will like.
The Sportage is designed to be smooth on bumpy roads, but sometimes, it can bounce too much on wavy roads. Kia did an excellent job of keeping the inside of the car quiet and without any annoying squeaks.
The controls for the air inside are pretty cool — they can change from controlling the air to controlling the music. Some might not like this feature, but it works well and keeps the inside of the car at a comfortable temperature.

The inside of the Sportage is well-designed and easy to use. Kia has made it look nicer without making it harder to use. The new screen looks like neon signs, which might not be for everyone, but it’s modern, and you can still press many buttons. The cars with all-wheel drive are taller than those with front-wheel drive, making it harder to get in, but it’s still pretty easy because of how the doors are shaped.
You can see out of the car well because of the big windows and shape. If you want an even better view, the fancy models have a camera showing everything around the vehicle. There’s a lot of room inside for people, except if you’re tall, you might find the roof a bit close in the front seat.

Also, you can’t use the touchscreen while driving.
There are many driving aids like cruise control that adjusts to the car in front, warnings for when cars are in your blind spot, cameras to help you park, and even help to park the vehicle using the car key. These features work well in real life.

The Sportage has lots of room for your stuff. It has one of the most enormous trunk spaces in its class, and you can make even more room by folding down the back seats. It’s easy to put things in the back, and the seats have special hooks for child seats.
Inside the car, there’s plenty of room for small items. There’s a spot in the middle with a lid where you can charge your phone, and the cup holders are smart because they can move to hold extensive drinks or make more room for your stuff. The Sportage can also tow things like a small trailer or boat up to 2,500 pounds.
Fuel Economy
The all-wheel-drive Sportage with special tires for off-road uses fuel very little efficiently, getting about 26 miles per gallon. That could be better than others, especially since it could be faster. We got more than that in our tests, but if you drive fast in the city, you’ll probably get less.

Kia also offers a great warranty, lasting five years or 60,000 miles for the essential car and ten years or 100,000 miles for the engine and stuff. Plus, you get help on the road for five years or 60,000 miles, which is as good as what Hyundai offers.
